Who is Doktor Kat? Why do you spell doctor with a K?
Doktor Kat represents the first female healer. The Egyptian goddess Sekhmet.
Doktor is spelled with a K because it was the traditional way and still spelled that way in many countries. Being born outside of the U.S. I grew up with this spelling. I also want to stay as traditional as I can. I am a purist and stay on the path of proven remedies and healing approaches over 5000 years old
My practice has a home feeling, I spend time with you the way it used to be, I really listen and nothing is rushed. Before I start my day I give thanks to all our ancestors that have paved the way to healing.
Does it work + does it hurt?
There are many clinical proven scientific studies on the efficacy of how and why acupuncture works. It may take 1 treatment or over 10 treatments. It may be immediate improvement, one thing is for sure....we will do everything we know how to help you.
The needles are thinner than a strand of hair. You wont feel pain, but may feel a heaviness and that is the acupuncture working. It has a profound relaxing feeling as the needles work neurological pathways and send messages to the brain to start the healing process.
What does it cost?
My goal is to help you. I know that it could get expensive, therefore I work with you to make sure that the cost is not preventing you from getting better. Treatments start at $80 and up.
If you have insurance, I can write a "Superbill" to your insurance company, I will accept insurance soon-Let me know what insurance you have and I will try to join the network.

How often should I make an appointment?
Depending on how long your concern has been, we usually begin 2 visits per week and taper off to 1 visit a week then 1 time a month. Acupuncture is also known to be preventative medicine, we keep you healthy before something goes wrong, and if already has progressed we look to the root cause of the problem, not just temporarily fix it.
